The group's largest application for lead engineering products is radiation shielding in nuclear energy, healthcare, security, defence, R&D and non-destructive testing  markets.  Calder subsidiaries have the skills to deliver turnkey radiation shielding solutions (including design, project management, fabrication and installation services).

Calder is also active in other markets where the particular properties of lead (density, weight, corrosion resistance, insulation, anti-vibration ...) are required. Industries supplied include steel & alloy production, battery making, automotive, chemicals, marine, electronics and munitions.
